Rockingham County High School has a heated swimming pool, two story media center, 625-seat auditorium and new dressing facilities for athletic programs. The school has a fully equipped Auto Cad classroom and spacious outdoor athletic facilities. Rockingham County Middle School is located adjacent to Rockingham County High School.

A Student Services Management team meets monthly and provides at-risk students with access to a variety of community agencies. Internet access is available in all classrooms. A Career Center is located in the media center. Many opportunities are available to students in their senior year to gain off campus experience. Included in this variety of options are directed internships and apprenticeships. Seniors are also given the chance to enroll in academic and technical courses at Rockingham Community College. RCC is located just minutes away from the high school campus. Students may earn high school and community college credit in this partnership formed by Rockingham County Schools and Rockingham Community College. Students pay no fee or tuition to take part in this program. 

RCHS has a Student Health Center that is open to students during the school day. In addition to a registered nurse, a nurse practitioner has been added to the staff. The center is sponsored by Morehead Hospital in Eden, Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville and other area organizations.

Special School Events

RCHS has ninth grade student orientations and open houses for all parents to meet teachers and school staff. Blood drives are sponsored by the school’s HOSA organization and Student Council. There are many opportunities for student involvement and leadership development. RCHS offers more than 50 on campus clubs and organizations for students. Included in these organizations are the National Honor Society, Tri-M, National Science Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, BETA Club, Foreign Language Clubs, Vocational Clubs and Key Club to name a few. 

The Drama Department performs fall, spring and summer plays as well as a Dinner Theater. Winter and spring Choral/Band concerts and piano recitals are offered. Academic awards programs are held at the end of the first and second semesters. In the spring, students participate in the Prom Promise program and Cancer Society breakfast.

The Vocational Education/Technical Program includes Agriculture, a Modern Auto Mechanics program adopted by Toyota and NATEF certified, Health Occupations, Business and Computer Courses, Consumer Science, Public Safety Academy, IT Academy, Architectural Drafting and Life Skills Courses.

RCHS’s Foreign Language Department offers Spanish I, II, III and IV. The school has a student produced newspaper that is published monthly. The Math Department offers courses ranging from Intro to Math to Calculus. The Fine Arts Department offers Art I through Art IV, Theater I and II, Technical Theater I and II, Advanced Play Production, Concert Choir, Girl’s Chorus, Piano Labs, Jazz Band, Concert Band and Marching Band. The Trilogy, RCHS's yearbook has won awards for creativity and content.  In the spring of 2020, 425 copies of the Trilogy were sold to students and faculty.

Four Levels of English are offered including CP, Honors and Advanced Placement English. The Science Department offers Biology, Physical Science, Chemistry, Earth Science and Physics. Honors and CP courses are offered in Physics, Chemistry, Physical Science and Biology. Social Studies offers CP and Honors sections of World History, Civics, American History I and American History II.  AP United States History is also offered. The Physical Education Department offers courses in Team Sports, Physical Development, Weight Training and Personal Health.

The Air Force JROTC, which starts its 29th  year in 2021-2022, will build leadership skills in almost 300 cadets this year. The program is staffed by two full time military instructors. The school also is part of the Renaissance Program. 

RCHS belongs to the Mid-State 3-A Conference. Women's’ athletic teams include tennis, soccer, volleyball, cross country, track, swimming, softball, and basketball. Men's’ sports available are football, soccer, basketball, cross country, track, baseball, wrestling, swimming, golf and tennis. RCHS’s Baseball Team won the North Carolina State Championship in 1996. In 2002 and 2003, our girls' basketball team was runner up in the state basketball championship. Our Lady's Golf Team finished 3rd in the state in 2015 and won the 3A State Championship in 2016, 2017 and 2018. The school has also had several individual state champions in track. RCHS takes prides in its student athletes’ many talents, both on the field and in the classroom.
